Three people died in southern China because of very strong winds, like those in a typhoon, that blew them out of their apartment windows. This extreme weather has been hitting the region hard for the past week.
In Jiangxi province alone, seven people have lost their lives since these powerful winds started on Sunday. Over 5,400 houses were damaged, and around 313,000 people were affected. About 1,600 of them had to leave their homes and go to safer places.
The Chinese weather authority issued an orange alert on Tuesday, which is the highest warning level in their system. This is the first time they’ve done so since 2013.
