Yacht businesses have faced financial losses, and tourists were disappointed due to pollution caused by an oil spill. The beaches of Sentosa Island resort were affected by this spill, which happened when a dredging ship collided with a stationary fuel ship at the port on Friday afternoon.
Parts of East Coast Park and Labrador Nature Reserve were closed for cleaning up the oil spill, and they will remain closed until further notice.
Yacht businesses based at Sentosa Cove couldn’t move their boats since Saturday morning because the marina entrance was blocked. Employees said they were informed about this decision around 11:45 am.
An employee of YachtCruiseSG mentioned that the company had to cancel four bookings on Saturday, resulting in a loss of about S$800 (US$590) per booking, totaling around S$3,200 for the day. They also have more bookings scheduled for Sunday and Monday, but uncertainty remains about when boats can operate normally again from the marina.
